Losing by 30 in an NBA game is bad enough. Losing 147-116 is a whole other story. The San Antonio Spurs scored the most points under current coach Gregg Popovich's reign Friday Night. They tallied 65% from the field in the game and even tipped 69% before going to their bench late in the 4th quarter. The Golden State Warriors looked like a high school squad trying to defend the likes of Manu Ginobili, Tim Duncan, and Richard Jefferson.
Warrior guard Monta Ellis would put up 39, but without Stephen Curry the Warriors couldn't contain this Spur's squad. Golden State hasn't won in San Antonio since 1997 which is currently the longest mark in the NBA. Warrior coach Don Nelson would be freed from the mayhem early after being ejected late in the first quarter for arguing a foul call on C.J. Watson.
The Spurs would put on 77 points by half-time and because of the rout Tim Duncan only had to play 14 minutes of game time. The Spurs will need everyone well-rested for a push down the playoff stretch where they are only the 7th seed as of this game.
