The Cleveland Cavaliers showed once again the depth that they have developed on the team. Without LeBron James, they beat the San Antonio Spurs 97-95 on Monday. In the previous three years, without LeBron in the lineup the Cavs went 0-9.
With some of their most talented players-- LeBron James and Shaquille O’neal-- riding the bench, the Cavaliers became the first team in the NBA to win 50 games this season.
Mo Williams and Antawn Jamison led the team with 17 points, but it was Williams that made two clutch free throws with 9 seconds left to clinch it for Cleveland. Delonte West came up big in the last minute of the game as well with a key steal that was pivotal for the Cavs.
"A lot of guys stepped up, collectively we made plays down the stretch. We did a good job of finding a way,” said Mo Williams.
Antawn Jamison left the game in the latter part of the third quarter with an apparent knee injury. He sat out the rest of the game complaining of a lot of stiffness behind his left knee. Doctors do not yet have know the extent of the injury.
