Rodney Stuckey was released from the hospital Saturday evening after collapsing on the bench Friday night against the Cavaliers. Stuckey was reported to have had a “violent seizure” after going over to the sidelines during a Detroit timeout.
Despite several reports from various media outlets, team sources have said that Stuckey not only didn't have a seizure, but that the Pistons’ guard never even lost consciousness.
"We're just glad he's going to be all right. He was in good spirits. We had a good conversation, and he was very alert," said Coach John Kuester after speaking with Stuckey on the phone in Cleveland. “I think he's going to be okay. But time will tell.”
For Kuester, this brought back some terrible memories from a similar situation that happened to him in 1993. He was with the Celtics when Reggie Lewis collapsed on the sidelines and died due to existing heart problems.
Stuckey missed two games in 2008 after suffering from dizziness and feeling lightheaded during a game. The Pistons organization hopes to get Stuckey’s health problems worked out and avoid future issues.
