Duke Serves North Carolina in Rivalry Game

Advert
Basketball Share
It is one thing to lose a game to a rival. It is a whole other thing to be routed in the most lop-sided home win for Duke this year. 82-50 would be the final score, and even that was never really in doubt as Duke dominated from the opening tip-off.

Fourth-ranked Duke came into this game needing not only a win for bragging rights, but also with a potential number one seed in the NCAA tournament at stake. Jon Scheyer would score 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists for the Blue Devils and would help Duke wrap up a 53-26 first half score line. Duke would shoot an amazing 51% in this half and put away any hopes that North Carolina had of pulling an upset.

North Carolina is almost assured of not making the tournament just a year after winning it all. With a 16-15 overall record and a paltry 5-11 in the ACC, they are going to be on the outside looking in when the final bracket is created. This will be a day that Tar Heel fans hope to forget very soon.
