A lot has been made about the celebration antics of the women's Canadian hockey team after their gold medal win over the U.S; however, the celebration should be nothing to get upset about.
The women hockey players only have the Olympics every four years to play against top competition. There is nothing wrong with them celebrating after winning the gold, in a game that gave them the only challenge of the tournament. Also, it is not as if their were fans in the stands, the arena was empty.
A lot has also been made about the pictures of 18-year-old Marie-Philip Poulin seen drinking beer on center ice. However in Poulin's hometown, the drinking age is 18. So, yes, technically she was breaking the law in Vancouver, but she is of age where she is from.
There have been talks about women's ice hockey being dropped from the Olympics next time around. The women know this, so they know this may be the last time that they all get together and play hockey at a high level.
There is nothing wrong with a little celebration for athletes who get together once every four years, and possibly, for the last time.
