The all time leading rusher and all time leading receiver in the history of the NFL are at the head of this year’s hall of fame inductees.
Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice were just a few of the big names among this class. John Randle, Russ Grimm, Rickey Jackson, Floyd Little, and Dick LeBeau will join the two greats in the induction ceremony in August.
Smith rushed for 18,355 yards and 164 touchdowns in his career while Rice 22,895 receiving yards and 197 touchdowns in his illustrious playing days. These two players along make this year’s class an extremely special one that has already been called the best group yet.
“I never took anything for granted, I love this game. It was everything to me,” said Rice who is widely considered one of the best receivers of all time.
Two other top caliber receivers in Chris Carter and Tim Brown were passed up for the nomination.
