The Super Bowl ending doesn't just mark the end of the NFL season. It also marks the end of the worst two week stretch of the sports calendar.
Every year we are bombarded with coverage of the big game for more time than most of us can handle. Networks, magazines, and websites are forced to dig for every and any story related to the game, most of which the viewers can do without. Then of course you have the main story that dominates the weeks. This year’s version of course made Dwigth Freeney’s ankle the most famous body part in the history of football.
By the time the game finally rolls around, the casual fan has to be reminded that the season is still going on. I would say it’s time to eliminate the extra week, surely it’s enough time for every “expert” to announce their picks and for ESPN to break down the game in every single way possible.
