With Super Bowl Sunday just a day away, the NFL world paused Saturday to honor some of the legends from eras past. Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Russ Grimm, Rickey Jackson, Dick LeBeau and Floyd Little made up the cast of 2010 Hall of Fame inductees.

Rice is best remembered for his brilliant play with the San Francisco 49er's from 1985-2001. He joined the Oakland Raiders from 2001-03 and the Seahawks from 2003-04. The NFL’s all-time leader in receptions, yards, and touchdowns also appeared in 13 Pro Bowls.

“It was just hard work – hard work and an appreciation for the game,” said an emotional Rice after the announcement was made. “I love this game and it means everything to me.”

Rice credited his father for motivating him to achieve great things on and off the field.

“I got very emotional, because all of a sudden I thought about my dad and him not being here today,” he said. “I think everything just hit me - what my parents instilled in me about hard work and respecting people. It became real.”
