David Sills is a 13 year old at Red Lion Christian Academy but will be a household name in due time. He is the most talked about college recruit in the nation but he is only in seventh grade.
Although he is not able to officially sign his letter of intent until the year 2015, he verbally committed to the USC Trojans on Friday sending shockwaves throughout college football. The youngster made an appearance on Good Morning America to talk about it.
Sills turned on the television Friday morning and was surprised to see his highlights on ESPN. There has been a backlash of criticism coming from all angles on USC coach Lane Kiffin for offering a college scholarship to a 13 year-old. His father has also been under scrutiny for pushing his son into the bright lights of the media. His coach who has funneled former players Matt Leinart and Matt Barkley to USC is in the hot seat as well.
"I felt like I was in a dream today. It was so amazing to see my highlights on TV. It was on in the restaurants and sports bars and everywhere. I saw myself a lot on TV today,” said Sills on his new found stardom.
Whether it materializes into a successful career or not, clearly the young play caller is enjoying his time in the limelight.
