A civil suit was filed against former Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin last Thursday accusing him of rape.
A woman going by the name of “Jane Doe” claims that Irvin raped her in the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, in 2007. No criminal charges have been filed.
There is an investigation into the case that is said to come to a conclusion next week. Irvin was a radio host on ESPN radio in Dallas until his show was canceled on Friday. Irvin claims that nothing happened beyond meeting the woman and his attorney Larry Friedman said the allegations we “totally untrue”.
The woman claims that the Hall of Fame wide receiver bought her alcohol and later brought her up to his hotel room where he raped her then another man forced her to have oral sex with him. Seminole police were informed of the incident on July 20th, 2007 and were able to keep the story away from the press for about 2 ˝ years.
Seminole spokesman Gary Bitner stated, “They investigated it thoroughly. Although by that time there was no longer any forensic evidence or surveillance video."
